System Cache: If you want to clear system cache on your computer, the steps can vary depending on your operating system. Here's how to do it for Windows and macOS:
For Windows:
- Press
Windows + R
to open the Run dialog. - Type in
temp
and press Enter. Delete the files in the temporary folder that opens. - Again, in the Run dialog, type in
%temp%
and press Enter. Delete the files in the temporary folder that opens. - Finally, open the Run dialog once more and type in
prefetch
. Delete the files in the prefetch folder.
For macOS:
- Go to the "Finder" and choose "Go" from the menu.
- Select "Go to Folder" and type in
/Library/Caches
. Delete the contents of this folder. - Again, go to the "Finder" and choose "Go to Folder." This time, type in
~/Library/Caches
and delete the contents of this folder as well.
- Press
App-specific Cache: Some applications might also store cache data. To clear cache for specific applications, you'll need to refer to their settings or preferences. This might include software like media players, email clients, and more.
